great gift idea

Today's post is a project completed as a gift for my daughter's ballet teacher. I think it is nice to get the pages out of the book and onto the wall, so to speak. :)

For this gift, I asked the girls to write a note to KC, their teacher. ( Of course, I photo-copied & reduced in size the notes the girls wrote) combining their notes with photos, pieces of the recital program, decorative papers, and embellishments I arranged a keepsake.

A new creation & addiction!

Chipboard letters ! ~ YES ! :) my new addiction.
Today's post is actually happening almost tomorrow. But anyways, back on the chipboard letter train. They are a fantastic new, very economical alternative to scrapbooking. In this post I have used decorative papers, and letters, some paint & modge-podge (of course!) a spray finish and ribbons to attach the letters. This particular grouping is for our school; "Springboro Panthers" .... wouldn't this be cool if it had embellishments for sports or other school activities.? :)
My plan is to create names with letters, and incorporate specific themes when appropriate. Next in my line-up is "M-A-R-Y" for my niece's 1st birthday. Bring on the pink baby!

Tori's birthday banner

Good Saturday morning!
A few weeks ago when I started this blog my 1st post was of a card I designed and created for a little girl celebrating her 7th birthday. Since then I have worked to prep for some shows and completed another portion of her decorations;
"T-O-R-I" banner. The ribbon is woven in and out thru the shapes and then camouflaged with an accenting ribbon tied, this also adds stability! :)
Still to come ~ coordinating cupcake pics and goodie bag tags.

supply list;
~star shaped chipboard pieces
~misc. cardstock and decorative papers
~border punch & scalloped scissors
~stencils & ribbon
~misc. stamping

I would like to credit Lain Ehmann @ layoutaday.com for her inspiration. Believe it or not I had never used a border punch before.!

1 more view of banner :)

more banner

As it is difficult to get a good picture of a banner in it's element, I would like to add another view (or 2)

banner

Good Thursday to YOU!
Today's feature is the banner with Lily's name & the ladybugs alternated accordingly.
Flanked by coordinating ribbon & accented with bows as appropriate, this banner made a beautiful addition to the party decorations.
It was a joy to work with my client to create complimenting pieces for her daughter's very special "1st" birthday.
thanks again Jen! :)

Just the 'bug'

For the middle of the week, here is a close up view of the 'ladybug' used throughout the birthday theme.
Containing 3 layers of cardstock including the scalloped edges. It measures approx. 6 inches in diameter. The over 1 inch wide ribbon was applied between 2 pieces of cardstock in order to provide stability.
To note; the entire ladybug is composed of cardstock pieces conceived from a pattern I designed.

ladybug birthday

Ta-Da !
here is the entire door hanger in its' element.
This was a super fun project and lent me to extending my ideas and creativity.
Thanks Jen!

the center canvas is flanked above & below with the ladybug theme on cardstock anchored by the ribbon. The tricky part for this was how to hang it. As artists we do not plan for the 'engineering parts' :)..........smiles to my Dad and brother.

Lily's 1st Birthday decors

This week I will start a series of birthday decors designed and created for
"Lily's 1st Birthday"
Today's post is simply the canvas from the center of the door hanger.
Lily's Mom requested a 'ladybug' theme and color palette of pink & green.
Designs by Ang took it from there. Please enjoy the results throughout the week.

Happy Saturday 'ATCs'

'ATCs' stands for; "Artist Trading Cards"......
......I just could not resist these 2 in combination. The first is so dreamy and sweet and then the second is 'BAM!' how we really feel some days. I enjoyed making these 2 small works of art. Actually, I believe I made them in the same night.!!!!!
May your weekend be 'dreamy' with accents of 'desire' as needed.!

Artist Trading Cards

As promised from yesterday's post, I have selected an image displaying 3 of my favorite 'Artist Trading Cards.'
These are meant to be designed and traded all over the world, however I could never quite let mine go. To me they are like little masterworks of art, and they let me experience a smaller image area than I am used to.
Each is the size of a playing card. As a matter of fact; playing cards are generally used for the base. Most of these were produced at a ladies event. We just gathered round at a friends studio; "GREEN LION ART STUDIO" and away we went surrounded by tons of magazines, old books, tons of type and of course lots and lots modge-podge.

Layers of modge-podge

Good Morning & thanks for visiting.
Today, I chose to keep with the frame theme. This frame is functional both vertically and horizontally. It is fun, playful and fits a sepia or B&W photo perfectly.
Created using an easel-back frame, including glass. Decorated
and embellished for a simple but suitable sentiment. Layers of 'modge-podge' and a spray finish.
Have you ever done any papercrafting using modge-podge? It is sticky but a ton of fun.!
Come back tomorrow; I will highlight some 'artisit trading cards that inspired my frame idea.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Today is a good day to post a frame from the series to demonstrate how many items coordinate with one another.
Notice, the same theme from yesterday's journals.
This easel back frame measures 7 x9.
The area fit for your photo is 4 x 6. Layers of decorative paper are used and embellishments are added as needed.
thanks for looking, have a good Monday!

one more pink for Monique

Here is a smaller journal created for Breast Cancer benefit.

for Monique

This evening I joined a new blog titled; "The Pink Stamper"..... She has proposed a "PINK for MONIQUE" campaign for her friend recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
I am sending her one of my journals I did for a Breast Cancer benefit last fall. We raised alot of money for the cause and I donated to local doctors as well. It was a great success. I was going to wait until October to post these, but now seems very appropriated.
With my prayers,
A. Mullins
